EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Golf will compete in the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, hosted by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Monday and Tuesday at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois.
The Screaming Eagles will compete in the invitational for the fifth consecutive year. Gateway National Golf Links features a par 71 played at 6,985 yards. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
The 17 teams competing in the invitational are Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Tennessee Tech University, Southern Utah University, University of Tennessee at Martin, Tennessee State University, Morehead State University, Weber State University, Indian Hills Community College, Western Illinois University, Missouri State University, University of Northern Iowa, Bradley University, Lindenwood University, Bellarmine University, University of Idaho, Eastern Illinois University, and the University of Southern Indiana. Kansas State University will be competing only in the individual portion of the tournament.
USI's best previous finish at the Derek Dolenc Invitational was 7th place in 2023. Last year, the team finished in 12th place and built off of its first-round success, shooting +1 in the round.
The team will look to take a step further this week after a fifth-place finish at the Grover Page Classic. Sophomore
Ingtawan Wangrungwichaisri was the highlight for the USI squad, managing a 1-under-par result on the weekend, a career best. The scoring lineup this week is led by Wangrungwichaisri followed by freshman
Loic Simard, graduate senior
Jonas Arnstrom-Bakker, junior
Chandler Ornelas, and junior
Alex Peck. Senior
Hunter Reynolds will be competing as an individual.
