YORKTOWN, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Golf tied for eighth this week at the Ball State University Brittany Kelly Classic at The Players Club at Woodland Trails in Yorktown, Indiana.
 
After a second-place finish at the Midwest Match Play Championship to open its 2026-27 schedule, USI Women's Golf competed in its first stroke-play tournament of the year, making its first appearance at the Brittany Kelly Classic.
 
USI tied for eighth with a score of 931 (309-306-316) alongside Western Illinois University.  Host Ball State won the tournament, shooting a 6-under-par 858 (294-283-281).
 
Junior Brianna Kirsch was USI's highest finisher, tying for 26^th on the individual leaderboard with a score of 11-over 227 (79-74-74). The two rounds of 74 were one stroke off from the team low in the tournament.
 
In Monday's opening round, junior Elizabeth Mercer set an early pace for the Screaming Eagles, carding a 1-over-par 73 for the team's lowest round of the tournament and moving near the top of the individual leaderboard early on. Senior Tora Timinsky was not too far behind with a 77 in the first round.
 
The second round was USI's best collective team round of the event, as Kirsch led the way with her first 74. Kirsch had only one blemish on the card, parring 17 of 18 holes. Sophomore McKenna Lowe improved her scoring by shooting just two strokes behind Kirsch with a 76, her best round of the tournament, after logging five birdies. Timinsky followed with another 77 that included a pair of birdies and an eagle.
 
Kirsch remained USI's frontrunner in Tuesday's third round with another 74, behind a pair of birdies and a 1-under-par 35 on the back nine. Timinsky was next with a 79 and also posted a 1-under-par 35 that came on the front nine.
 
The Screaming Eagles return to competition in two weeks, September 28-29, when USI makes a trip up to New York for the Hill Yeah! tournament hosted by Stonehill College at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, New York.
