EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women's Golf tees off its 2026-27 campaign and fall season with a trip to the Midwest Match Play.
 
The event will be held at The Grande Club in Jackson, Michigan. The Grande Club is a par-72 course measuring 5,915 yards.
 
The format will be a round-robin among USI, host Purdue University Fort Wayne, the University of Detroit Mercy, and the University of Illinois Chicago. Each team consists of six players. Player lineup order will remain the same throughout the event. The first team to reach 3.5 points will win the head-to-head team match. In the individual matches, one point will be granted for a win, a half point for a halved match, and 0 points for a lost match. Each individual match will be played to completion, even if the team match has already been clinched. The championship will go to the team with the best win-loss record at the end of the event.
 
The Screaming Eagles start the event Monday morning at 8 a.m. against Illinois Chicago before facing off against Detroit Mercy in Monday's afternoon swing starting at 2 p.m. USI's final match against Purdue Fort Wayne will be Tuesday starting at 9 a.m.
 
Coming off a solid fourth-place finish at last season's Ohio Valley Conference Championship, USI heads into the 2026-27 campaign with seven players on the roster, featuring five returners and two newcomers, under fourth-year head coach Ann Sullivan.
 
Senior Alexis Wymer returns for USI as the only Screaming Eagle who was on the squad when Sullivan arrived at the helm in the middle of the 2023-24 campaign. Despite entering 2026-27 with an injury, USI will lean on Wymer's leadership and experience in the fall season. Wymer is only a couple of seasons removed from helping lead USI to its first head-to-head victory over the University of Evansville in 2024-25 when she sank the match-sealing putt in a playoff to complete USI's comeback win.
 
Juniors Brianna Kirsch and Fernanda Vera are back for the Screaming Eagles. Both averaged just over 79 strokes per round last year. Kirsch competed in all 10 tournaments and 28 rounds in 2025-26, and she posted a personal and team season-best low-round score of 66 at last year's OVC Championship. Vera competed in nine tournaments and played 25 rounds last year, posting a low-round best of 74 and recording multiple top-20 finishes.
 
Also returning for the Screaming Eagles are senior Tora Timinsky and sophomore McKenna Lowe. Timinsky is coming off her first year with USI after transferring in, competing in all 10 events and playing all 28 rounds while posting a per-round stroke average of just over 80. Her best single-round score last year was a 71, and she notched a top-5 finish at the Charles Braun Intercollegiate. Lowe heads into her second year after making strides to finish her freshman year in 2025-26. Lowe also competed in all 10 events and 28 rounds last year, averaging just above 82 strokes per round. Her single-best round last year was a 74, and she ended the year with a team-best 18^th-place finish at the OVC Championship.
 
USI's two newcomers are junior transfer Elizabeth Mercer and freshman Kaidyn Wardlaw. Mercer is a transfer from the University of Evansville, where she averaged 78 strokes per round in two years with the Purple Aces. Mercer's career-best round at Evansville was a 72, and she recorded multiple top-10 finishes. Wardlaw was an all-conference and all-state selection at New Albany High School, where she was also the 2025 Hoosier Hills Conference champion and placed top 15 in the 2025 IHSAA Girls Golf State Finals.
 
USI will head to Michigan for the Midwest Match Play event with the lineup of Kirsch, Mercer, Wardlaw, Timinsky, Vera, and Lowe.
