EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer will continue its season-opening away trip with a stop at Northern Kentucky University on Monday, August 24, at 5 p.m. CT.

Monday's match will not be streamed on ESPN+. Live Stats and coverage are available at usiscreamingeagles.com.

USI (0-0-1) is coming off a 0-0 draw against the University of Milwaukee last Thursday, earning its first season-opening result since 2018.

It was the first-time a Screaming Eagles opponent had been shut out since August 26, 2025 (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology). It was also the first time since October 13, 2024 (University of the Incarnate Word) that USI has shut out a Division I program.

A shutout on Monday for the Screaming Eagles would be the first back-to-back shutouts since 2016.

USI managed to keep the net clean on 16 shot attempts in Thursday's opener, with strong defensive efforts coming from OVC Preseason Player to Watch senior midfielder Garrett Morris, sophomore defender Zach Naessens, and sophomore goalkeeper Jacob English.

English finished the day with six saves, the most in his career without giving up a goal in a single game.

The Screaming Eagles totaled 11 shots, five on goal. Senior defenders Ian Graham and Kris Martial and sophomore midfielder Oliver Church all tied with two shots, with one shot on goal.

Northern Kentucky (0-1-0) fell to the University of North Carolina Asheville 1-0 in its season opener on the road. The Norse allowed a goal in the 34th minute of the match.

Northern Kentucky was outshot 17-12 and managed only two shots on goal. 11 of the Norse's 12 shots came in the second half.

Last season, NKU finished 4-10-3 overall and 2-5-2 in Horizon League play.  The Norse return three of their top four goal scorers from last season: junior wing Jason Purks, junior midfielder Bennett Gerak, and junior defender Steven Boaghe Braniste.  Each player contributed (goal or assist) to at least five goals last season. In goal for the Norse is senior Caleb Pearson, who transferred from Northern Illinois University after the 2025 season, where he played 213 minutes for the Huskies and allowed two goals and made nine saves in three games.

Monday's meeting against Northern Kentucky will be the 25th matchup in the all-time series. Last time the two teams played in 2023, the Screaming Eagles got the best of the Norse, winning 3-2. Overall, Northern Kentucky leads the series 15-8-1.
