USI announces 2026 XC schedule

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Athletics announced the 2026 cross country schedule Monday.
 
Under the direction of Head Coach Mike Hillyard, the Screaming Eagles have six meets on their regular-season slate, beginning with the Stegemoller Screagle Twilight September 4.
 
This season marks the second consecutive year that the Screaming Eagles will host a meet on campus after hosting the Stegemoller Twilight at the USI Cross Country Course a year ago.
 
Following USI's lone home meet, the Screaming Eagles will have the opportunity to preview the host course for the NCAA I Great Lakes Region Championships when they compete at the Spartan Invite September 11 in East Lansing, Michigan.
 
Competing in one of three evening meets, USI previews the host course for the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference Championships when it races at the OVC Preview Meet September 18 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
 
USI stays in the Show-Me state the following week when it competes at the Gans Creek Classic September 25 in Columbia, Missouri, the host site of the 2025 NCAA I National Championships.
 
This year's national championship meet will be hosted in Terre Haute, Indiana, where USI will race in two consecutive meets in October, beginning with the Nike XC Town Twilight October 2.
 
The Screaming Eagles once again race in Terre Haute October 16 when they compete at the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational.
 
USI runs at the OVC Championships October 30 and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional November 13. The NCAA Championships are November 21.
 
The Screaming Eagles bring back a loaded squad that features 2025 OVC Male and Female Athlete of the Year honorees Alex Nolan and Ellie Hall. Nolan won a combined four OVC titles on the track during the 2026 indoor and outdoor seasons, while Hall swept the 5,000 and 10,000-meter races at the 2026 OVC Outdoor Championships.
 
Both USI's men and women dominated the OVC's distance events last spring. USI's men earned the top two finishes in the 1,500 meters, the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters at the OVC Outdoor Championships, while the women had three of the top eight finishers in the 1,500 meters, the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters at the conference meet.
