EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis opened the 2026 season with a hard-fought 5-2 loss to Drake University on Friday afternoon at the Evansville Tennis Center.

Doubles
The doubles matches were a battle from the start, but the Screaming Eagles managed to secure the point with wins from the number one and three pairs. Senior
Axel Sabourin and junior
Aaron Dawson were the first win, taking their match 6-4. Next was senior
Mathys Bove and sophomore
Adam Koon, who took their match to a tiebreaker set.

Singles
Drake won five out of six of the singles matches. First to finish was freshman
Kalani Hibbert, who dropped his match 6-1, 6-2. Then, in a close battle at the number one spot was Sabourin, who fell 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore
Jy Hibbert fell in two very close sets, including a tiebreaker first set (7-6, 7-5).
The Screaming Eagles' lone singles win came from Bove, who completed his match 7-5, 6-1, at the number three position.
