EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer makes its 2025 regular-season home debut Tuesday night against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Admission to Tuesday's home match and all 2025 USI Soccer regular-season home games is free courtesy of ProRehab. Tuesday's match can also be viewed with an ESPN+ subscription.
Since transitioning back to Division I in 2022, the Screaming Eagles are 0-3-0 in home openers.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with USI taking a 1-0 victory in 2024.
USI opened its season on the road Thursday, falling 6-0 to the Cardinals in Louisville, Kentucky. It was USI's first matchup against a power conference opponent since returning to the Division I ranks.
The teams traded attacks early, unable to find the back of the net in the first 20 minutes. The Cardinals opened the floodgates with their first score coming in the 22nd minute, with the two others shortly behind. USI went into the half down 3-0.
Out of the halftime break, Louisville matched its first-half production, scoring its final three goals in the first 19 minutes of the half.
USI's pair of goalkeepers made some miraculous plays, with freshman
Jacob English recording seven saves in his collegiate debut and junior
Kael McGowan recording six in relief.
The Eagles will be without freshman defender
Joaquin d'Escoto against Rose-Hulman, due to a red card received 3:34 into the team's opening game.
Rose-Hulman is coming off a 10-5-3 2024 season that ended with a 2-1 loss to Anderson in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Semifinals. The Fightin' Engineers went 8-0-1 through the Heartland conference regular season, taking home the regular season championship.
The team has won either the regular season or conference tournament championship each of the past six seasons and has made the NCAA tournament two of the last three years.
The Engineers are coached by former USI Men's Soccer Captain Sean Helliwell, who took over the team in 2008. Helliwell has won 10 regular-season HCAC championships, eight HCAC tournament championships, and has been named HCAC Coach of the Year nine times.
Following Tuesday's matchup, USI will continue its five-game homestand against the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay September 1. The Eagles fell to the Phoenix 3-2 last year, as Green Bay scored the go-ahead goal with four seconds remaining. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
