CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis closes out the weekend with a massive victory over Austin Peay State University on Saturday afternoon, 5-2. The Screaming Eagles improve to 3-4 on the season, while the Governors drop to 3-4. USI is trending in the right direction, winning their third match in the past four competitions.
Doubles
The duo of junior Axel Sabourin and freshman Jy Hibbert earned the Eagles first victory on the day, winning the one doubles match 6-4. Next, sophomore Eytan Michaeli and senior Quinten Gillespie secured the doubles point for the Eagles with a nail biting 7-6 (8-6) win.
Singles
Junior Mathys Bove dominated in the one singles slot (6-2, 6-3), putting the Eagles one point away from victory. Hibbert continued to shine in his impressive freshman season, defeating the Governor's number four 7-6, 7-5.
Gillespie clinched the victory for USI with an impressive 6-0, 6-4 display in the number five position. This marks the second time this season the senior has clinched a match for the Eagles. Adding onto the victory freshman Adam Koon clawed past APSU's six slot (7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4)) adding the Eagles fifth point.
