USI celebrates Homecoming with two OVC games

Eagles host Little Rock, SEMO this week

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Basketball celebrates Homecoming Week with a pair of Ohio Valley Conference games at Liberty Arena this week. USI starts the action by hosting the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Thursday and concludes the three-game homestand with the Homecoming game versus Southeast Missouri State University Saturday.
 
Both games are slated for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff and tickets for both games are on sale now at USIScreamingEagles.com.

USI (9-13, 4-8 OVC) is coming off a rough week that saw the Screaming Eagles lose a 66-65 heartbreaker on the road to Morehead State University and the start of the homestand with a 78-65 setback to Tennessee Tech University at Liberty Arena. USI sophomore forward Stephen Olowoniyi led three players in double-digits last week with 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest, while junior guard Damoni Harrison and junior guard Jayland Randall followed with 14.5 points and 13.5 points per contest, respectively.
 
For the season, Harrison leads the team with 14.5 points per outing, while Randall was second with 14.4 per game. Olowoniyi rounds out the double-figure scorers with 13.7 points per game and a team-best 6.6 rebounds per contest.
 
The Trojans of Little Rock (14-9, 8-4 OVC) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 75-57 win over the University of Tennessee at Martin Saturday at home. Little Rock has won six of its last eight games.
 
USI lost on the road in its first meeting with Little Rock this season, 78-58, and was led by the 17-point performance by Harrison. Little Rock took the lead in the all-time series, 3-2, with the win in January.  
 
The Redhawks of SEMO (13-10, 8-4 OVC) start this week on a three-game winning streak after defeating Tennessee State University, 89-87, in overtime at home. SEMO, who visits Morehead State before coming to USI, has won four of its last five contests.
 
SEMO leads the all-time series with USI, 7-3, after taking the first meeting of the season, 77-66, in Cape Girardeau in January. USI had four players in double-digits in the loss, led by junior guard Sam Kodi, who had 15 points. Junior guard Braxton Jones followed with 13 points, while Olowoniyi and Harrison rounded out the four with 12 points and 11 points, respectively. 
 
During the first half of the Homecoming game Saturday versus SEMO, USI will honor the 2025 class of the USI Athletic Hall of Fame. This year's class includes Angie Gries '00 (Women's Soccer 1996-99); Julia Kohnen Griffey '14, M'15 (Women's Soccer, Cross Country, Track & Field 2010-15); Travis Marx '94 (Men's Soccer 1989-92); Greg Tassios '85 (Men's Soccer 1981-84); Chris Thompson (Men's Basketball 2004-06); Rodney Watson (Men's Basketball Head Coach 2009-20); and the 2014 NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship Team.
