EVANSVILLE, Ind. — University of Southern Indiana Baseball will travel across town to play a doubleheader at the University of Evansville Sunday. The first pitch for game one is set for noon with game two to be played shortly after the conclusion of the opener.
The Screaming Eagles hope the third time will be the charm for the 2025 home opener when it hosts Saint Louis University for a 4 p.m. contest. The Eagles will be back on the road for the six games following Wednesday's showdown at the USI Baseball Field.

USI Baseball Notes:
USI predicted 8th in 2024 OVC. The USI Screaming Eagles are predicted to place eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2025.
USI advanced in OVC Championship during 2nd Division I season. The Eagles earned a second trip to the OVC Championship during its second season of transitioning to NCAA Division I. The Eagles advanced to the semifinals before bowing out of the tournament in 2024.
USI starts hot. The Eagles started 2025 on a high note, taking three of four from Alabama State University. USI took the opener 3-1; split a doubleheader on day two, winning 12-8 and losing 9-2; and won the series with a 15-13 victory on the final day.
Offense starts with Holiday. USI senior centerfielder/leadoff hitter
Khi Holiday jump-started the Eagles' offense in each of the wins. In the three wins, Holiday started the game with a hit, a stolen base, and a run scored to put USI in front before the Hornets had a chance to hit. He batted .444 with eight runs scored, six RBIs, and six stolen bases in the first four games.
Coakley is top hitter versus Alabama State. Freshman first baseman
Kannon Coakley hit a team-best .467 (7-15) in the first four games and was a perfect five-for-five in the game two victory over the Hornets.
On the mound: Junior right-hander
Blake Kimball led the USI starters in the opening series with six strong innings in the 3-1 season opening win. He allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out one. Sophomore right-hander
Aaron Rubio was the best out of the bullpen, throwing 4.1 innings without allowing a run and earning a save.
USI starts Ramirez Era: The Eagles start the Head Coach
Chris Ramirez era in 2025. Ramirez replaced Tracey Archuleta, who had been at the helm since 2007.
USI has three vs. UE. USI has a three-game set with the University of Evansville this week. The Aces hold a 34-20 all-time series lead over the Eagles after a 10-0 win last season at UE.
USI to host Saint Louis. USI will host Saint Louis University February 26. The series is tied, 1-1, after SLU took the only meeting last season, 13-5.
Long road swings on the schedule. The Eagles have a pair of long road swings in 2025. USI has six on the road to end February and start March and an eight-game trip in April.
