Hutson and Ebest named to OVC All-Tournament Team

MARION, Ill. – University of Southern Indiana Baseball senior first baseman Tucker Ebest (Austin, Texas) and junior right-hander Tyler Hutson (Villa Hills, Kentucky) were named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Tournament Team that was announced Saturday after the conference championship game in Marion, Illinois.

In USI's four games during the OVC Baseball Championship, Ebest led USI and tournament first basemen by batting .500 (6-12) with three runs scored, two doubles, a triple, and two RBIs. Ebest also was named second-team All-OVC earlier last week.

Hutson was dominating in his only start of the tournament, leading the Eagles to a 2-0 victory over top-seeded University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The junior right-hander blanked the Trojans for seven innings, allowing five hits and three walks. He also struck out five batters over the seven frames.

At the OVC Baseball Championship, USI went 2-2 as the fourth-seed, advancing to the semifinals and finishing third in the tournament. The Screaming Eagles opened conference tournament with its first-ever Division I post-season win by defeating the University of Tennessee at Martin, 11-2, and advancing to the double-elimination round to post a 2-0 win over Little Rock. USI, which finished the year 27-32 overall, concluded its season with an 11-5 loss to second-seeded and eventual OVC champion Southeast Missouri State University and a 6-4 loss to third-seeded Morehead State University.
