Eagles head to Alabama for OVC Indoor Championships

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Track & Field will complete the indoor season at the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships this week. The Screaming Eagles will compete in their second OVC postseason on Wednesday and Thursday at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Coming in on a high note is freshman Cole Hess (Cannelton, Indiana) who is fresh off a record-breaking performance at the ISU Open after winning the 800 meters and smashing the program's previous indoor record. Hess holds the fastest freshman 800-meter time in the OVC and the third fastest time by any conference member.

For the women, junior Audrey Comastri (Indianapolis, Indiana) has led her squad during the indoor campaign. Comastri holds the fastest USI time in the 400, 800, and 1,000 meters and broke the program's 1,000-meter record at the Bellarmine Open in January.

Last season, the Eagles had a pair of first-place finishes including five podium awards in their first-ever OVC Indoor Championships. Each squad earned sixth-place conference finishes in last year's indoor postseason.
