EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer fell to the University of Evansville, 4-0, in the Mayor's Cup Saturday evening in front of a record crowd of 855 at Strassweg Field. The Screaming Eagles fall to 0-5-0, while Evansville goes to 2-2-1.
The Eagles found themselves behind 2-0 at the break as the Aces found the back of the USI goal in two of their three shots on-goal. USI had three good looks at the Aces' goal but could get the ball on goal.
Evansville sealed the victory in the second half a tally at 51:29 and 60:09. USI had a pair of shots on-goal in the final 25, one by junior midfielder
Garland Hall (Evansville, Indiana) and junior midfielder
Elmer Garcia (Indianapolis, Indiana), but could not find the back of the goal.
Overall, the Aces had a 16-11lead in shots and 8-5 margin in corner kicks.

The Eagles continue their four-game homestand Tuesday when they host Belmont University at Strassweg Field. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Belmont has started 2023 with a 2-1-2 record in the first three weeks of the schedule. The Bruins surrendered their last match to the University of Memphis, 2-1, on the road Friday evening.
The Bruins took the first meeting between the two programs in 2023, defeating the Eagles, 2-0, in the season opener in Nashville, Tennessee.
