EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer fell to Belmont University, 4-0, Tuesday night at Strassweg Field. The Screaming Eagles fall to 0-6-0, while Belmont goes to 3-1-2.
The Eagles fell behind early and trailed, 4-0, at the intermission. USI was better in the second half, blanking Belmont in the final 45 minutes and putting a pair of shots on goal.
Senior forward
Zach Barton (St. Louis, Missouri) had a goal called back due to offsides at 54:38 and another hard shot on-goal at 69:50. Junior forward
Robert Schoenstein (Evansville, Indiana) had USI's first shot on-goal of the second 45 with a blast that was saved at 56:36.
USI had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks overall, but trailed in total shots, 17-9, for the match.

The Eagles start the second half of the four-game homestand September 19 when they host former rival Northern Kentucky University at Strassweg Field. The match is slated for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
NKU is 0-2-3 in 2023 after falling to Bowling Green State University, 2-1, tonight on the road. The Norse visit Oakland University Saturday before coming to visiting USI next week.
The Eagles and Norse renewed the old GLVC-rivalry last year with NKU winning 3-2 in Highland Heights, Kentucky. NKU leads the overall series, 15-14-1, and has won the last nine match ups. USI last defeated NKU in 2003.
