EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Basketball finishes 2022-23 non-conference action when it plays in the Indiana Classic December 19-20 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. USI set to play Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis Monday at 3 p.m. (CST) and host Purdue University Ft. Wayne Tuesday at 6 p.m. (CST).

USI is on a three-game winning streak after finishing the homestand and the non-conference home slate with a perfect record. The Eagles were 3-0 on the homestand and, currently, is 5-0 this season at Screaming Eagles Arena.
The final game of the homestand featured USI's 42-point win over Saint Mary of the Woods College, 84-42. Senior guard
Jelani Simmons (Columbus, Ohio) led the USI attack with 18 points, while sophomore guard
Jeremiah Hernandez (Chicago, Illinois) and senior forward
Jacob Polakovich (Grand Rapids, Michigan) followed with 11 points and 10 points, respectively.
For the season, Simmons leads the Eagles with 14.7 points per game, followed by graduate forward
Trevor Lakes (Lebanon, Indiana) and sophomore guard
Isaiah Swope (Newburgh, Indiana) with 11.5 points and 10.7 points per outing, respectively. Polakovich, who is dropping in 10.3 points per game, leads USI on the glass with 8.9 rebounds per contest.
IUPUI is 2-9 overall after suffering a 70-59 loss to Eastern Illinois University Saturday at home. The Jaguars were led by freshman guard Vincent Brady II with 16 points and graduate forward Chris Osten with 15 points.
This season, the Jaguars are paced by junior guard Bryce Monroe and sophomore guard Jlynn Counter, who are posting 12.0 points and 11.2 points per game, respectively.
USI leads the all-time series with IUPUI, 12-5, and swept the last meetings in the 1994-95 season. The Eagles also won the last two meetings and four of the last five.
Ft. Wayne is 7-4 overall and has won three-straight, including a 65-61 win over Missouri State University. Graduate guard Jarred Godfrey led the Mastodons in the December 10 loss with 17 points.
The Mastodons are led by Godfrey and graduate forward Bobby Planutis, who are posting 15.3 points and 13.0 points per game, respectively.
USI leads the all-time series, 25-13, and had a GLVC advantage, 22-13, when the Eagles and 'Dons played in the same conference. The Eagles also had the advantage in Ft. Wayne, 7-6.
The last meeting went USI's way in 2001, 110-108, in Ft. Wayne. USI also has won the last 16 meetings with Ft. Wayne when the teams played in the GLVC.
After the classic and the Christmas holiday, USI is set to open its first Ohio Valley Conference schedule by hosting Southeast Missouri State University December 29 at 7:30 p.m. The USI-SEMO game will a part of a OVC men's and women's basketball double-header.
