EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Basketball returns action Monday at Screaming Eagles Arena to begin its longest homestand of the season when it hosts McKendree University for a 7:30 p.m. contest on Martin Luther King Day. The final two games of the homestand are January 20 and January 22 when USI hosts the University of Illinois Springfield and Lewis University, respectively. Game time versus Illinois Springfield is 7:30 p.m., while tipoff for the Lewis match-up is 3:15 p.m.
The USI-Lewis contest is Military Appreciation Day, which is sponsored by American Legion Post 324 and the USI Student Veteran Association. Veterans and their guests will receive free tickets with proof of service (limit to five per veteran).
The USI-University of Indianapolis game, scheduled for Saturday at Indianapolis, has been canceled due to COVID. The game will not be rescheduled.

USI Men's Basketball vs. McKendree Quick Notes:
USI falls to Southwest Baptist. USI fell at home to Southwest Baptist University, 65-61, in their only game last week. The Eagles were strong in the first half, leading by nine points, 29-19, but were out scored in the second half, 46-32.
Swope posts season-high. Freshman guard
Isaiah Swope (Newburgh, Indiana) posted a season-high 16 points in the loss to Southwest Baptist.
Three in double-digits in scoring. Junior guard
Jelani Simmons (Columbus, Ohio) leads the way for the Eagles in scoring with 11.9 points per game. Junior forward
Jacob Polakovich (Grand Rapids, Michigan) follows with 11.8 points per game and a team-best 9.3 rebounds per contest, while sophomore guard
Tyler Henry (Brooklyn, New York) rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.3 points per game.
Doing the job defensively. USI is doing the job defensively this season, holding the opposition to 67.4 points per game, 51.0 points per game over the last six contest.
USI vs. McKendree. USI leads the all-time series with McKendree, 15-8 overall and 13-2 in GLVC action after posting a 68-55 win on the road to start the 2022 calendar year. Junior forward

Tyler Henry dropped in 14 points.
McKendree in 2021-22. McKendree is 6-4 overall, 2-4 in conference, after getting back on track with a 74-73 win over Truman State University at home on Saturday. The win also broke a string of losing four of the previous five games.
