EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis (5-3) picked up their first Great Lakes Valley Conference decision of the season over the Lindenwood Lions (4-3), 5-2 Friday evening.
DOUBLES:
Eagles got off to a great start as junior Marvin Kromer and senior Yahor Bahdanovich defeated their opponents, 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles match. Kromer and Bahdanovich moved to 3-5 for the season as a pair.
After dropping the No. 3 doubles, the duo of Senior Spencer Blandford and sophomore Lucas Sakamaki secured the doubles point in the No. 2 match defeating their foes in a tiebreaker, 7-6. Blandford and Sakamaki now are 5-3 when they are paired together on the season.
SINGLES:
The Eagles dropped the first two singles matches although came back to finish off the
Kromer battled back and forth to find a No. 3 singles victory after dropping the first set, 4-6, came back with a 6-4, 6-2.
Sakamaki posted a two-win evening when he also came back from dropping the first set to win consecutive 6-3s to up his individual record on the season to 8-2.
Blandford like his doubles partner, had a two-win night as he clinched the match for the Eagles in straight sets in No. 4.
Freshman Dylan Brown tacked on another victory, this time in a tiebreaker set in the No. 6 singles to close out all scoring. Brown moved to 4-2 in singles play on the season with that win.
