EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis (6-3) picked up another Great Lakes Valley Conference match over Maryville University (4-4), 4-3 at Wesselman Park Saturday evening
DOUBLES: The Screaming Eagles were rolling out of the gates with a No. 2 doubles victory by duo sophomore Lucas Sakamaki and senior Spencer Blandford 6-1 over their GLVC foes. Sakamaki and Blandford improved their record to 6-3 in doubles play together.
After dropping the No. 1 doubles, the senior/sophomore pairing of Kooper Falkenstein and Preston Cameron battled their way to win the No. 3 doubles, 6-4, giving USI the doubles point. Falkenstein and Cameron are now 6-1 on the year in doubles.
SINGLES:
Sakamaki picked up right where he left off dominating in the No. 4 singles for a straight-sets victory where only allowed his opponent to win three games. Sakamaki is a team-best 9-2 on the season for singles play.
After dropping the No. 1 singles, freshman Dylan Brown picked up his fifth victory of the season in the No. 6 singles.
Maryville took the No. 2 and No. 3 in straight-sets to knot things up at 3-3 going into the No. 5 singles.
Blandford, like he had yesterday against Lindenwood University, came through to clinch the match for the Eagles in a tiebreaker set after dropping the first set, nonetheless.
