EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis (7-3) finished off a three-match homestand sweep with their latest victim being Walsh (Ohio) University (6-8) when the Eagles defeated the #10 regionally ranked Cavaliers, 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Wesselman Park.
DOUBLES: The Screaming Eagles hit the courts with some momentum as the senior/sophomore combo of Kooper Falkenstein and Preston Cameron seized the No. 3 doubles, 6-3. This win moves the pairing to 7-1 in doubles on the season.
The Cavaliers took care of the No. 2 and No. 1 doubles giving them the nod for the doubles point. Â
SINGLES: After the Cavaliers took the No. 1 singles in straight-sets, the Eagles dominated the rest of the way.Â
Junior Parker Collignon got back to .500 on the season (6-6) with a No. 3 singles straight-sets victory.
Freshman Dylan Brown who is starting to become accustomed to this, filled in due to injury and won the No. 6 singles in straight-sets. Brown upped his individual record to 6-2 on the season with the victory on Sunday.
Junior Marvin Kromer then took down his opponent in straight-sets in the No. 4 singles to set the stage for the No. 5
Sophomore Lucas Sakamaki hung in and battled to earn the match-clinching victory in a tiebreaker set, 6-4. Sakamaki was a stellar 5-1 for all competition this weekend and is now 10-2 for singles play this season.
Cameron tacked on his second win of the afternoon in the No. 2 singles where he fought back and forth ultimately prevailing in the tiebreaker, 10 points to three.Â
