EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Softball has withdrawn from this weekend's Midwest Region Crossover at Deaconess Sports Park in Evansville, Indiana, as players and coaches involved in last Saturday's automobile accident in Owensboro, Kentucky, continue their recoveries.
"Due to the unfortunate event within our program last weekend and taking into consideration the well-being of our program, we will not be able to play in the Midwest Region Crossover this weekend," USI Head Coach
Sue Kunkle said. "On behalf of our program, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support during this time."
The event will still take place March 5-7 and will feature Davenport University, Grand Valley State University, Kentucky Wesleyan College, Lake Erie College, Purdue University Northwest and Trevecca Nazarene University.
USI is scheduled to resume competition March 14 when it hosts the University of Indianapolis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at the USI Softball Field.
