EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana senior
Jesse Davis (Bloomington, Indiana) was named the GLVC Scholar Athlete of the Year for men's track and field in a vote done by the league's faculty athletic representatives.
Davis, who is majoring social science with a teaching emphasis, has a 3.73 GPA. During the indoor season, Davis earned All-America honors in the 800 meters after winning a pair of conference titles in the 800 and 3,000 meters.
He finished fifth in the finals of the 800 meters at the NCAA II Indoor Championships with a school-record time of one minute, 53.29 seconds.
During the outdoor season, Davis earned All-GLVC honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase before finishing 17th in the 800 meters at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships. He also moved into second all-time at USI in the outdoor 800 meters with his time of one minute, 51.54 seconds at the Tennessee Running Distance Solution.
Davis finished his career at USI as an 11-time champion and a 10-time All-GLVC performer. He also earned All-Region honors in cross country this past fall.
