USI track and field performs well at DePauw Classic

The University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team finished sixth and the men's team finished seventh Saturday at the DePauw Classic in Greencastle, Indiana. The women were aided by three first-place finishers while the men had the top five finishers in the 3,000 meters.

On the women's side, freshman distance runner Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) and junior distance runner Jenny Farmer (Princeton, Indiana) posted NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in the mile. Cooksey strengthened her mark from last week by finishing first in the mile with time of 5:00.07. Farmer's 5:04.19 in the mile marked the second event she has recorded a provisional time in. She finished third in the event.
