EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana volleyball junior middle blocker Laura Ellerbusch (Newburgh, Indiana) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American honorable mention team Monday.

Ellerbusch becomes the second volleyball in school history to earn All-America honors, joining former standout setter Kim Boehmer who earned honorable mention honors in 2003.

"Laura comes in and works hard every day," Head Coach Molly Alvey said. "She is easily motivated and her work ethic is contagious to the rest of the team."

The AVCA and Daktronics, Inc. All-Great Lakes Region performer led the Screaming Eagles with 3.34 kills and 0.87 blocks per game to go with a team-leading .343 attacking percentage.

Ellerbusch was named first-team All-GLVC and was named GLVC Player of the Week a school-record three times in 2004. She was selected to the Radisson Riverfront Classic and NCAA II Great Lakes Region All-Tournament teams.

"It is a great recognition of the success our team has achieved and it is motivation for the rest of the team to see their teammate earn such an honor," Alvey explained. "Being able to see that one's teammate is capable of becoming an All-American, lets a player know that it is possible for them to earn the same type of recognition."

A graduate of Castle High School, Ellerbusch recorded 10 or more kills in 23 of USI's 31 matches and had four double-doubles.
