Mannix, Goodman lead Eagles at GLVC Championships

Goodman earns GLVC Freshman of the Year honors

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.—Senior Tristan Mannix (Crothersville, Indiana) and freshman David Goodman (Valparaiso, Indiana) each won gold Saturday to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team to a sixth-place finish at the GLVC Indoor Championships. The two runners accounted for 32 of the Screaming Eagles' 45 team points.

Mannix won the 3,000 meters with a time of eight minutes, 39.27 seconds, and helped USI's distance medley relay team to a second-place finish with a time of 10 minutes, 35.88 seconds. His performance in the 3,000 meters netted him first-team All-GLVC honors.

Goodman was first in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 16.72 seconds, and fifth in the 3,000 meters with the time of eight minutes, 49.31 seconds. His performance netted him first-team All-GLVC honors in the 5,000 meters and earned him GLVC Freshman of the Year honors.

"David has certainly established himself as one of the premier distance runners in the GLVC," Head Coach Mike Hillyard said. "To have that type of poise as a freshman in his first GLVC meet of any type says a lot about the type of runner that he is."

In all, the Eagles had five top-five finishes, including senior Robert Roads' (Terre Haute, Indiana) fifth-place finish in the 5,000 meters.

USI returns to action March 28-29 when it opens the outdoor season at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri.
