SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team dropped a neutral-site matchup with Northwest Missouri State University, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Freshman
Lucas Sakamaki and sophomore
Parker Collignon picked up USI's second and third points of the afternoon, respectively. Sakamaki finished his No. 6 play with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 tally, while Collignon wrapped up the day in the No. 4 slot, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6, needing a 7-3 tiebreaker score in the third set to take the point.
The Screaming Eagles (4-3) swept doubles play over the Bearcats (3-0), in lineup order. Junior
Yahor Bahdanovich and sophomore
Marvin Kromer earned the easiest victory, 6-3 in No. 1 play, followed by Sakamaki and junior
Spencer Blandford briefly going into extras, 7-5. Freshman
Preston Cameron and junior
Kooper Falkenstein gutted out their 7-6 victory that needed a 7-5 tiebreak to settle the debate.
USI Men's Tennis heads further west to Wichita, Kansas for a date with Newman University Tuesday. Action begins at 1 p.m.
