LEBANON, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team amounted a 4-3 victory over McKendree Friday afternoon to advance to 2-1 in conference play.
DOUBLES
USI (9-10, 2-1 GLVC) was able to grab the crucial doubles point win starting with the efforts of the sophomore duo in
Kooper Falkenstein (Jeffersonville, Indiana) and
Spencer Blandford (Louisville, Kentucky) at number three doubles winning in 6-3.
Freshman
Marvin Kromer (Dogern, Germany) and senior
Ilia Karelin capped off the point in the number two spot taking the win in 7-6.
SINGLES
Blandford continued his momentum with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number four singles to start things off while Kromer returned with a win of his own at the number three spot 6-1, 6-4.
McKendree bounced back with three straight wins at the number two, six, and one spots to knot things up at 3-3 before freshman
Martin Linares (Buenos Aires, Argentina) established himself as the final force for the USI victory in a 6-4, 6-3 match.

The Eagles are back in Evansville on Tuesday, April 9 at 3 p.m. for a match against the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks at the USI Tennis Courts.
