EVANSVILLE, Ind.—For the second time in three weeks, University of Southern Indiana junior pitcher Jennifer Leonhardt (Louisville, Kentucky) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for softball in an announcement by the league office Tuesday.

Leonhardt dominated opposing hitters this week, posting a 2-0 record with a save, .000 ERA, a .159 opponent batting average and 21 strikeouts in four appearances inside the circle.

The biology major began the week by striking out eight batters in the Eagles' 8-0 game-one win over Quincy University on Sunday. She also retired the only batter she faced in USI's 6-5 setback to the Hawks in the nightcap.

On Monday, Leonhardt rang up a combined 13 strikeouts, including 11 in USI's 2-0 game-one win over Truman State University. She concluded the weekend by striking out two more batters in an inning of work to preserve USI's 4-3 win over the Bulldogs in the nightcap.

This season, Leonhardt has recorded seven complete-game shutouts and had a hand in two additional combined shutouts. She has tossed a shutout (six complete and one combined) in seven of her last eight starts.

For the season, Leonhardt leads the GLVC in ERA (1.37), opposing batting average (.179) and strikeouts (134). She has a .034 ERA with a .154 opponent batting average and 55 strikeouts in GLVC-only games.

USI (21-13, 9-3 GLVC), which is currently in first place in the conference standings, returns to action Saturday at noon when it travels to Kansas City, Missouri, to take on Rockhurst University in a GLVC twinbill. The Eagles also visit William Jewell College Sunday at noon in a conference doubleheader in Liberty, Missouri, before returning home April 9 to take on Kentucky Wesleyan College.
