EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Men's Tennis defeated visiting Lindenwood University 5-2 at the Evansville Tennis Center on Saturday to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Senior
Ilia Karelin (Ekaterinburg, Russia) and freshman
Marvin Kromer (Dogern, Germany) led the day taking singles No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, and teamed up for another victory in doubles No. 1.
The doubles victory by Karelin and Kromer opened the day for the Screaming Eagles, setting the scene for sophomores
Spencer Blandford (Louisville, Kentucky) and
Kooper Falkenstein (Jeffersonville, Indiana) to seal the doubles point in the No. 3 session.
Blandford moved on to take the second team point in the match, defeating Lindenwood's Ghenea Tudor 6-4, 6-1 in singles No. 4. After freshman
Martin Linares (Buenos Aires, Argentina) took the No. 5 session, Karelin's victory in No. 1 sealed the victory for USI.
The Eagles return to the Evansville Tennis Center on February 15 to take on visiting Hillsdale College. Competition begins at noon.
