OWENSBORO, Ky. - The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team improved to 3-3 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Brescia University Friday evening.
The Screaming Eagles swept doubles play, including 6-0 victories by freshman
Rachel Anderson (Racine, Wisconsin) and junior
Lauren Hambrock (Terre Haute, Indiana) in the No. 2 match and freshmen
Shelby Braselton (Haubstadt, Indiana) and
Kylie Skepnek (Algonquin, Illinois) in No. 3 competition.
After sealing the doubles point, both Skepnek and Braselton picked up singles points with victories of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively.
Freshman
Lindsey McCord (Greenfield, Indiana) sealed the Eagles' victory with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in singles No. 5 before Anderson picked up the fifth USI point in singles No. 2 play, winning by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
USI Women's Tennis returns to the Evansville Tennis Center on Saturday to take on the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Competition begins at 4 p.m.
