OAKLAND CITY, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Women's Tennis ended the 2018 fall season on a strong note as the Screaming Eagles swept host Oakland City University, 7-0, Monday evening.
USI (2-1) picked up a 1-0 lead with a sweep of doubles play. Juniors
Lauren Hambrock (Terre Haute, Indiana) and
Alex Jamison (Floyds Knobs, Indiana) had a dominating 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while Jamison blanked her opponent at No. 2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 over the Mighty Oaks' (4-6) Hannah Wilson.
Hambrock also won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, while freshmen
Rachel Anderson (Racine, Wisconsin),
Kylie Skepnek (Algonquin, Illinois),
Shelby Braselton (Haubstadt, Indiana) and
Lindsey McCord (Greenfield, Indiana) notched straight-set wins at No. 3-6 singles, respectively. Braselton and Skepnek paired for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, while Anderson and McCord were 8-1 winners at No. 3 doubles.
The Eagles, who had to cancel the annual "Broomstick Classic", resume the 2018-19 campaign when they start the spring season in February.
