EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Women's Tennis dropped a tight 4-3 match against Quincy University on Friday to open the spring season.
Junior
Alex Jamison (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) and sophomore
Lauryn Thompson (Evansville, Indiana) opened the afternoon with a convincing 8-0 win for USI in doubles play before the Hawks snagged the point with wins of 8-1 and 7-5.
Freshman
Kylie Skepnek (Algonquin, Illinois) brought in the first singles win for USI from the four spot with a 6-1, 6-1 performance to lead the Screaming Eagles.
Thompson continued her momentum from doubles play with a three-set victory after recovering from a 6-4 setback in the first set.
Jamison finished the afternoon on a high note for the Eagles, taking her singles match 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-2.
USI Women's Tennis returns to the Evansville Tennis Center on Saturday, February 9, to face Lindenwood University. Competition begins at 4 p.m.
