SPRINGFIELD, Ill.--The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team placed fifth overall at the Dan Salisbury Memorial Tournament at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield Illinois. The Screaming Eagles carded a combined team score of 608 (308-300). Rockhurst University won the tournament with an overall score of 20-over par 596 (293-303) followed by University of Illinois-Springfield and Missouri University of Science & Technology who carded overall team scores of 598 (295-303) and 599 (306-293), respectively.
Junior
Trevis Bell (Madisonville, Kentucky) led the way for the Eagles finishing with a two-day total of six-over par 150 (75-75) placing him in a tie for eighth. Junior
Zach Breault (Bridgeport, Illinois) and sophomore
Nate Caudle (Wayne City, Illinois) both finished in a tie for 16
th after completing the Hale Irwin designed Championship Course at 8-over par 152. Breault took 12 strokes off his opening round (82-70) while Caudle stayed consistent between both rounds (75-77) .
Rounding out the scoring for the Eagles were freshman
Zach Williams (Mt. Vernon, Illinois) and junior
K.O. Taylor (Madisonville, Kentucky). Williams finished the tournament at 15-over par 159 (76-83) while Taylor completed the tournament with a 17-over par total of 161 (83-78).
The Screaming Eagles are back in action October 15-16 at the Union Invitational in Jackson, Tennessee.
