EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team concludes the 2017 regular season slate with a three-match homestand and the hopes of securing a first round home match in the GLVC Tournament at the end of the month.
The three-match homestand, USI's longest of the season, has the Screaming Eagles hosting Drury University (6-6-2, 4-6-1 GLVC) Friday at 5 p.m.; Missouri University of Science & Technology (4-7-3, 3-7-2 GLVC) Sunday at noon for Senior Day and the annual Kick for the Cure match; and McKendree University October 25 at 5 p.m. for the regular season finale. The Eagles will be wearing pink jerseys versus Missouri S&T to promote the awareness of and the fight against breast cancer.

Week 8 Eagle Notes:
Eagles fighting for a top four finish: USI (6-4-4, 4-3-4 GLVC) enters this week's action tied for fourth in the GLVC standings and in contention to host a first round match in the conference tournament. The Eagles are tied with Bellarmine University (5-3-4, 4-3-4 GLVC), who has the tie-breaker with USI, and one game ahead of the University of Illinois Springfield (8-4-4, 5-4-3 GLVC) and Truman State University (5-5-4, 5-4-3 GLVC), who are tied for tied for sixth.
Eagles split its last road trip: USI split its last road trip of 2017 with a 1-0 victory over William Jewell College and a 2-1 loss to Rockhurst University.
Juenger takes over the scoring lead: Freshmen defender
Madelyne Juenger (Columbia, Illinois) took the team lead in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Senior forward
Haley Rheinlander (Evansville, Indiana) is second with nine points on three goals and three assists.
Eagles down in the all-time lead series with Panthers: The Eagles trail the Panthers in all-time series, 8-4-0, after posting a 2-0 win over Drury last year in Springfield, Missouri. Last year's win broke USI's three-match losing streak with Drury.
USI holds all-time lead with Missouri S&T: USI leads the all-time series with Missouri S&T, 9-5-0, despite falling on the road last year, 3-1. The Eagles have won six of the last eight meeting with the Miners since 2009. The Miners visit McKendree Friday night on their way to Evansville for Sunday's showdown with the Eagles.
Eagles hope to close the gap in the series with Bearcats: USI trails the all-time series with McKendree, 7-5-1, after falling to the Bearcats last season, 3-2, on the road. The Bearcats have won the last three versus the Eagles. McKendree hosts Missouri S&T and Maryville University prior to its visit to USI on October 25.
Schoenstein enters his second year: USI Head Coach
Eric Schoenstein is in his second season as the head coach of the Eagles, producing a 15-13-5 mark (.530).
