EVANSVILLE, Ind.---The University of Southern Indiana softball team wraps-up the regular season at USI Softball Field with Maryville University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday and Sunday. The Screaming Eagles challenge the Saints of Maryville at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday before hosting the Tritons of UMSL at noon and 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, the Eagles will honor their three seniors (
Toni Braun,
Janna Green, and
Sarah Owens) on Senior Day against Missouri-St. Louis. Along with the Senior Day festivities, the first 125 USI students with their student ID will receive a free combo meal from Sodexo at the concession stand at USI Softball Field.

Eagles in the Rankings
Southern Indiana fell a spot to sixth in the Midwest Region in the most recent NCAA Division II Regional rankings released Wednesday. Ahead of the Eagles in the rankings are the University of Indianapolis ranked first, followed by fellow GLVC member UMSL, and GLIAC members Wayne State University, Grand Valley State University, and Hillsdale College. Rounding out the initial rankings are Maryville in seventh, Truman State in eighth, Ferris State University sits ninth, and Trevecca Nazarene University is on the cusp in tenth, respectively.

State of the ConferenceÂ
USI currently sits in third in the GLVC with a 20-6 conference record with a one game lead over Truman State University and Maryville. #1 ranked University of Indianapolis leads the GLVC with a 23-3 conference record, while the University of Missouri-St. Louis sits in second with a 22-4 GLVC mark.

Record Breakers
Junior catcherÂ
Haley Hodges broke the USI single-season record for home runs in the Eagles' 10-2 victory over Quincy University last Sunday. Hodges has 19 home runs, 65 RBIs, and 48 runs through 46 games this season with four contests still left on the regular season schedule. Hodges is currently on pace to break the school single-season records for doubles, runs scored, and walks, while amassing one of the best batting averages and slugging percentages in school history.

Scouting Maryville
The Saints enter the weekend with a 35-9 overall record and a 19-7 GLVC record on the season…Maryville is led by sophomore outfielder Courtney Ferguson, who leads the Saints with a .378 batting average with two doubles, four triples, and 14 RBIs… USI leads the all-time series with Maryville 5-3.
Scouting UMSL
The Tritons are ranked sixth in the nation with a 44-5 overall and 22-4 in the conference in 2016…UMSL is led by dynamic senior pitcher Hannah Perryman, who has a 0.95 ERA with a 38-3 record in 280.2 innings with 466 strikeouts on the season…UMSL leads the all-time series with USI, 26-22.
