EVANSVILLE, Ind.---The University of Southern Indiana softball team continues its long road swing, as the Screaming Eagles travel to Clearwater, Florida for The Spring Games, held at Hancock Park Friday through Wednesday.
USI opens the classic Friday with a noon matchup with Seton Hill University before taking on Lock Haven University at 2 p.m. Returning to the field on Saturday, the Eagles face 15
th-ranked California University of Pennsylvania at 4 p.m. and 24
th-ranked West Chester University at 6 p.m. Sunday presents the Eagles with a pair of regional contests, as USI challenges Ohio Dominican University at noon before taking on the Cavaliers of Walsh University at 2 p.m. USI gets a one day break on Monday before returning to competition Tuesday with a 10 a.m. game against Grand Valley State University and a noon contest against Saginaw Valley State University. The Eagles wrap up The Spring Games with a 2 p.m. game against Minnesota State University-Mankato and a 4 p.m. contest against Holy Family University on Wednesday.

Sue Kunkle sits just two victories away from 400 for her career. Kunkle, the all-time wins leader in program history, has a career record of 398-306-1 (.564) with the Eagles.

Haley Hodges has helped propel the Eagles to their early season success with a .429 batting average and smashing four home runs and recording 17 RBIs. Freshman
Caitlyn Bradley has showed off her hitting prowess early in the season, batting .462 and driving in six runs.

Sensational FreshmenThe Eagles have to credit some of their early season success to a productive crop of freshmen. The aforementioned
Caitlyn Bradley currently holds a team-best .462 batting average for those who have appeared in at least half of the Eagles' 10 contests. Bradley has also impressed in the circle, as the Forest, Indiana native has compiled a team-best 3-0 record, while holding a 3.06 ERA in 16 innings.
Haylee Smith has proved a formidable force in the circle, as well, recording a team-low 2.19 ERA in 16 innings and striking out eight en route to a 1-1 record.
Courtney Atkisson has helped bolster the Eagles' pitching staff, appearing in a team-high six games, starting three, and amassing a 2-2 record while holding a 2.96 ERA in 23.2 innings.
Lindsey Barr has helped to secure USI defensively and help lighten
Haley Hodges' load behind the plate. Barr has appeared in all 10 games, starting six, while hitting .273 and adding a home run and a pair of RBIs.
Claire Johnson has also made a significant impact defensively for the Eagles, providing a strong foundation in the middle of the infield with sophomore
Mena Fulton and junior
Lexi Reese. Johnson has appeared in seven games and is currently hitting .200 on the season with a double and three runs scored.
