EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team lost a heartbreaking match to McKendree University, 1-0, in the final seconds of the second period of overtime. The Screaming Eagles fall to 3-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the GLVC, while the Bearcats rise to 2-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the GLVC.
The game-winning goal came with just 26 seconds remaining in the final overtime period off a Bearcat corner kick. McKendree senior Vijay Brahmbhatt rose up to head the kick into the back of the net.
The Eagles' offense had their chances on 8 shots, including two shots-on-goal. USI came close numerous times during the overtime periods, but never connected.
USI had their chance after the Bearcats were reduced to ten men during the second overtime period. The Eagles responded to the reduction by pushing the ball into the Bearcats' half.
McKendree charged forward with one last effort off of the Eagles' attack, earning the corner that resulted in the game-winning goal.

Adam Zehme (Orland Park, Illinois) had his shutout streak of 353 minutes ended with the final Bearcat tally.
The Eagles are back at Strassweg Field next weekend with a pair of conference contests. USI opens the weekend with a Friday evening contest against Drury University at 7:30 pm before concluding the weekend with a Sunday afternoon contest against the Missouri University of Science and Technology at 2:30 pm.
