USI is 11th at the GLVC Championships

CARMEL, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team took eleventh in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.
 
The Screaming Eagles completed the three-round tournament with a 960 (314-328-318), 63 strokes off the pace set by tournament-leading Lewis University. USI improved it position by the end of the third round, coming in tied for 12th after the first round and moving into sole possession of 12th after the second round before jumping to 11th.
 
Lewis (289-308-300—897), the University of Indianapolis (294-306-300—900); the University of Missouri-St. Louis (296-304-313—913), and the University of Illinois-Springfield (293-322-308—923) finished in the top-four spots in the team standings to advance to Tuesday's medal/match play competition to determine the 2015 GLVC Champion.
 
Individually, freshman Kyle Tanriverdi led the Eagles with a three-round 232 and tied for 20th. Tanriverdi, who recorded his second-best finish of the year, was followed by freshman Preston Van Winkle, who tied for 35th with a 238 (79-80-79).
