OLD HICKORY, Tenn.—The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team shot a two-round 607 to finish sixth out of 11 teams at the Trevecca Nazarene University Spring Invitational.
USI opened the two-day tournament with a 300 Monday before finishing the final 18 holes Tuesday with a 307.
Freshman
Trevor Grant (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) paced the Screaming Eagles with a three-over par 147, including an even-par 72 in the opening round. Grant finished in a tie for 17th in the 68-player field.
Fellow classmate
Preston Van Winkle (Santa Claus, Indiana) had USI's low round, shooting a one-under 71 in the first round to go into the clubhouse tied for fifth after the first day. Van Winkle, however, shot a 79 Tuesday to finish with a 36-hole score of 150 and in a tie for 27th.
Tennessee Wesleyan University won the tournament with a two-day score of 571, while Tennessee Wesleyan's Travis Rodgers was the tournament medalist after shooting a five-under 67 Tuesday and an even-par 72 Monday.
The Eagles return to action Saturday and Sunday when they take on the University of Evansville in a duel match at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, Indiana.
