Bobo Drummond (Peoria, Illinois) who promptly buried a triple from the right wing to tie the score at 62-62 with 1:57 left.
Back-to-back Maryville turnovers provided the Eagles with an opportunity to recapture the lead. With under one minute to play, senior
Austin Davis (Freeport, Illinois) attempted a right wing three-pointer and subsequently was fouled. Davis stepped to the charity stripe and sank two of his three attempts.
Off of another Saints turnover, USI took their time entering the frontcourt to set-up their offense. After securing an offensive rebound with 18 seconds left to play, Davis passed the basketball to senior
Gavin Schumann (Cincinnati, Ohio), who was fouled. Schumann would miss the front end of a one-and-one to give Maryville an opportunity in the closing seconds. Saints senior Armon Provo attempted a contested three-pointer near the buzzer that missed off the front of the rim and was tipped out as time expired.
The Eagles were led by Schumann and Drummond, who each tallied 13 points in the victory. Junior
Shane Seniour (Newburgh, Indiana) scored 12 points and brought down eight rebounds in 29 minutes of play while nursing four fouls for the majority of the second half.
