EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team returns to the Physical Activities Center for the final five matches of the 2015 regular season, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. when the Screaming Eagles host Maryville University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.
USI (17-9, 6-7 GLVC) also hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday at 3 p.m.; Bellarmine University November 10 at 7 p.m.; the University of Illinois Springfield November 13 at 7 p.m.; and McKendree University November 14 at 3 p.m. The McKendree match also is Senior Day for the Eagles.
After losing their last five road matches and finishing 2015 with a 3-8 road record, the Eagles are hoping their solid play at the PAC will be enough to propel them into the GLVC Tournament for the 16th consecutive season.
USI, which is 8-1 at the PAC this year and 6-0 in neutral site contests, enters the final two weeks of the regular season a game out of the eighth and final spot for the GLVC Tournament.
This is the final home stretch for USI's three seniors—defensive specialist
Erin Goldschmidt (Smithon, Illinois), right side hitter
Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, Indiana), and middle blocker
Abbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois).
Goldschmidt has amassed 596 digs during her four years in a USI uniform, while Oberbroeckling has 893 kills, 978 digs, and 216 blocks during her career at USI. Winter, USI's all-time leader in block assists, has racked up 1,013 kills and 526 total blocks during her career with the Eagles.
