ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team opened a two-match road swing with a 1-0 loss at Lewis University Friday evening in Romeoville, Illinois. USI saw its record drop to 4-5-2 and 3-5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Lewis rises to 7-3-2, 5-2-2 GLVC.
The Flyers scored the game-winning goal at 34:34 of the opening half and dominated the first 45 minutes by outshooting the Screaming Eagles, 10-3. USI tried to ignite its offense in the second half, blistering the Lewis defense with nine shots, but could not find the back of the Flyer's goal.
The Screaming Eagles allowed the game-winning goal in the opening half when the Flyers scored at 34:34 a 1-0 lead in the opening half after being outshot, 10-3. USI had more opportunities in the second half, out shooting Lewis, 9-6, but could not break through the Flyers defensive line.
USI concludes the road swing Sunday when it visits the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Somers, Wisconsin. UW-Parkside watched its record go to 3-8-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the GLVC after losing to 14
th-ranked Bellarmine University, 1-0, at home Friday night.
USI trails 11-9-2 in the all-time series against UW-Parkside after losing 2-1 to the Rangers last year at Strassweg Field. The Rangers have won the last two meetings with the Eagles.
