EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer shocked the University of Missouri-St. Louis on a game-winning goal in the final minute of a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, Missouri. The Screaming Eagles rise to 7-6-3 overall, 5-6-3 in the GLVC, while the Tritons end the day 6-6-2 in the conference and 7-7-2 overall.
While no goals were scored in the first half, the first half was dominated by the Eagles. USI owned the advantage in shots 8-4 and shots on goal 4-0.
USI's advantage continued in the second half, but neither team was able to break through for the bulk of the second frame.
In the final minute, senior goalkeeper

Josh Weinzapfel spun and flicked the ball to junior midfielder
Brian Fischer. Fischer received the pass with just 5 seconds remaining and fired a quick shot from 30 yards out at the top left of the box. Fischer's shot sailed through the box, over the keeper's head, and into the top right corner of the net for the game-winner.
The goal is Fischer's third goal of the season and his second in the last four games.
Zehme produced his fourth clean sheet in goal and his fifth victory between the posts.
The Eagles wrap up the regular season on Wednesday against Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky at 5:30 pm (CDT). USI remains in the fight for a GLVC tournament berth with the victory over UMSL and the conference tournament field will be set on the final day of the season.
