EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 battle to the University of Indianapolis on Friday evening at a soggy Strassweg Field. The Screaming Eagles fall to 3-5-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the GLVC, while the Greyhounds finish the day 4-3-2, 3-2-2 GLVC.
The Greyhounds earned the first tally off a saved shot that was rebounded and powered into the goal just past the 35 minute mark of the contest. Senior
Auston Bruder (Evansville, Indiana) skied high into the air and saved a high arcing shot which was followed for the UIndy goal.
UIndy would jump on the board again in the second half with under 15 minutes left to play off of a corner kick. The Greyhounds headed the ball off the corner at the back post to take a 2-0 advantage.
The Greyhounds notched their final goal five minutes after their second just past the 80 minute mark.
USI earned the advantage in corner kicks 5-2, while UIndy captured the edge in shots 16-7.
The Eagles return to Strassweg Field on Sunday afternoon to face the Pumas of St. Joseph's College. St. Joe enters the Sunday showdown at 4-4-0, 3-4-0 in the GLVC and fresh off a 3-0 loss to Bellarmine University on Friday evening.
