EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team returns to the road for the second half of its longest road trip of the season, traveling to play Saint Joseph's College Thursday and third-ranked University of Indianapolis Saturday. Tip off Thursday versus Saint Joseph's in Rensselaer, Indiana, is 7:30 p.m., while the start time at UIndy in Indianapolis, Indiana, is 2:15 p.m. (CST).

USI Men's Basketball Notes versus Saint Joseph's and UIndy: USI splits first half of road trip. The University of Southern Indiana started its first and longest road trip of the year with a split, falling at Drury University, 80-59, and bouncing back to win at Missouri University of Science & Technology, 84-58.
USI versus ranked teams. The Eagles have a rough schedule ahead of them with the possibility of three-straight ranked opponents in six days (third-ranked University of Indianapolis on Saturday; fourth-ranked Bellarmine University on Monday; and 22nd- ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside January 22) beginning Saturday. USI stumbled in its first match-up with a ranked team in 2014-15, falling to then third-ranked Florida Southern College, 91-80. USI is 61-50 (.550) against ranked squads since 1992-93.
Defense leads the way at Missouri S&T. The Screaming Eagles defense led the way against Missouri S&T, shutting out the Miners for the first 10:25 of the game as they built a 20-0 lead. USI also had a 17-0 run in the second half of their 84-58 victory. The best half of defense for the Eagles came in the 2007 GLVC Tournament versus Lewis University when they allowed seven points and just three field goals.
Roland and Schumann lead Eagles last week. Senior guards
TeNale Roland and
Gavin Schumann provided the USI offense versus Drury and Missouri S&T. Roland led the way with 15.0 points per game, while Schumann followed with 12.0 points per contest. Senior forward
Austin Davis also averaged in double-digits with 10.0 points per outing.
Edwards adds to team-leading double-doubles. Junior forward
George Edwards posted his team-best fifth double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Missouri S&T.

Gavin Schumann leads the Eagles and is fourth in the GLVC in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per contest. Junior forward
George Edwards follows Schumann with 15.9 points per outing off the bench and ranks 11th in the GLVC in scoring.
Tough and busy schedule coming up. The Eagles have a tough and busy schedule coming up this week. Starting Thursday, USI will play five games in 10 days, three of which will be at the Physical Activities Center. The five games also include match-ups with top-10 University of Indianapolis and Bellarmine University.

USI vs. Saint Joseph's. USI leads the all-time series with Saint Joseph's, 51-20, and is 8-3 against the Pumas in Rensselaer, Indiana, since 2000. The Eagles swept last year's series, 97-78 at the PAC and 103-92 in Rensselaer.
