Eagles conclude homestand versus Lewis
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team begins the second half of its homestand Friday at 5 p.m. when it hosts 14
th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The USI match versus UW-Parkside features the second top 20 opponent of the year for the Screaming Eagles.
USI finishes the four-game homestand Sunday when it welcomes Lewis University at Strassweg Field. Match time Sunday is noon.

Week 4 Eagle Notes: Eagles breaks losing streak with hard-fought tie: The Eagles (1-4-1, 0-3-1 GLVC) broke a three-game losing streak with a hard-fought, come-from-behind tie with Maryville University, 2-2, last Sunday. USI trailed 2-0 in the first half, but scored a goal in the first half and in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime and the eventual tie.
USI started homestand with tough loss: The Eagles started the four-game homestand with a 3-0 loss to the University of Missouri-St. Louis last Friday.
Vellky leads the Eagles in scoring: Junior forward
Madie Vellky (Dublin, Ohio) leads the Eagles in scoring after six games with four points on a pair of goals. Freshman
Sadie Schumann (Aurora, Indiana), freshman midfielder
Maggie Pike (St. Louis, Missouri), sophomore defender
Gabriella Korte (St. Louis, Missouri), and senior midfielder
Maura Hulme (Westerville, Ohio) follow with two points each. Schumann, Pike, and Korte have one goal each, while Hulme has a team-high two assists.
Engelbrecht is in her 12th year. USI Head Coach
Kristy Engelbrecht has an 87-103-14 overall record at USI, but is 50-40-2 in her last six seasons.
USI wants to even record with UW-Parkside. The Eagles are hoping to even the all-time series with the Rangers of UW-Parkside (5-0-1, 3-0-1 GLVC). UW-Parkside, which advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament a year ago, holds a 10-9-2 all-time margin over USI after defeating the Eagles last year in Kenosha, Wisconsin, 3-0.
Eagles look to continue winnings ways against the Flyers. USI will be looking to continue its winning ways against the Flyers of Lewis (1-4-1, 1-3-0 GLVC) when they match-up Sunday. The Eagles, who lead the all-time series, 13-4-1, have won eight of the last nine match-ups with the Flyers, including last season's 1-0 victory in Romeoville, Illinois. Lewis visits the University of Illinois Springfield before coming to Strassweg Field on Sunday.
