Sortable EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- The University of Southern Indiana softball team converted a combined 29 hits into 23 runs as it routed visiting regional opponent Oakland City University, 12-4 and 11-0 Wednesday evening at the USI Softball Field.
Things were looking a little rough for the Screaming Eagles (21- 20) in the opening game as Oakland City (16-18) raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first half of the second.
USI rallied back with a two-run double, from starting sophomore pitcher

Rutherford, who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, earned her first win of the season, ending the night with three strikeouts and one walk.
An RBI-single by Oakland City in their portion fourth left USI trailing 4-2, however the Eagles would turn the game around in the bottom of the same inning.
Freshman Hailey Hodges (Portage, Indiana) pounded out a two-out grand slam, sending sophomore
Janna Green (Glenwood, Indiana), senior
Teri Newmaster (Elberfeld Indiana), and junior
MacKenzi Dorsam (Dubois, Indiana) home for a 6-4 lead.
USI would go on to score six unanswered runs to take game one, 12-4.
The Eagles came out strong in game two, scoring multiple runs in the first three innings, leaving the Mighty Oaks trailing 11-0 heading into the fourth.
Oakland City could not find its rhythm in game two, falling to USI 11-0 in five innings.
