QUINCY, Ill.--- The University of Southern Indiana softball team ended the weekend at 0-4 following a doubleheader loss to Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division opponent Quincy University Saturday afternoon in Quincy, Illinois.

The Screaming Eagles, who are still third in the East Division, fall to 19-16 overall, 11-15 in league play, while the Hawks improve to 19-23, 11-15 in the GLVC.

Game one was a battle between both teams with Quincy tallying a run first, in second half of the second.

USI would remain scoreless until the top of the fifth when junior MacKenzi Dorsam's (Dubois, Indiana) double to right center, sent seniors Ali Nord (, Indiana) and Kyla Gogel (Fulda, Indiana) home for a 2-1 lead.

An RBI-single by the Hawks in the sixth knotted the score at 2-2. The Eagles could not get any more runs across and left it up to Quincy to decided how the game would end in the bottom of the seventh.

With two on and no outs, the home teams sealed the deal with another RBI-single, taking game one, 3-2.

Freshman Grace Clark (Indianapolis, Indiana) lit up the scoreboard first, in game two, with a leadoff homerun in the top of the second. USI battled but could not keep the momentum going, as the Hawks scored eight unanswered runs, leaving the Eagles with their second loss of the day.

The Eagles were outhit by Quincy, 9-3, and 9-6, respectively, earning both two losses in the circle, with junior Brooke Harmening (Whiteland, Indiana) and sophomore Sarah Owens (Indianapolis, Indiana) falling to 12-7 and 7-9 overall.

The Eagles return home Friday and Saturday to the USI Softball Field when they host Maryville University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, respectively.
