Huntsville, Ala.---Despite grabbing a 7-6 win against Georgia Regents University Augusta in its first game of the University of Alabama Huntsville Charger Chillout, the University of Southern Indiana softball team could not keep the momentum going into game two, falling to St. Edwards University, 3-1.

With both teams having yet to get on the board in game one, the Screaming Eagles got the spark they needed in the bottom of the third as junior utility player MacKenzi Dorsam (Dubois, Indiana) smacked an RBI-single to center field, giving USI a 2-0 lead.

Georgia Regents wasted no time in the fourth inning, however, overtaking the Eagles 6-2.

Trying to makeup for some ground loss, senior outfield Kyla Gogel (Fulda, Indiana) tacked on an RBI-single in the fifth frame as USI tried to close in on GRU. A bunt by senior outfielder Teri Newmaster (Elberfeld, Indiana), which resulted in a throwing error by Jaguar pitcher Haley Birkle, allowed Gogel to cross home plate for USI's fourth run of the day. With two outs and Newmaster at third, sophomore Toni Braun (Evanston, Indiana) grounded an RBI single to third.

USI held the Jaguars to two scoreless frames with hopes of sealing the deal in the bottom of the seventh. Dorsam sent an RBI-single out to left center, knotting the score at 6-6. With two outs and bases loaded, junior pitcher Brooke Harmening (Whiteland, Indiana) forced an RBI-single off a walk, ending the game in favor of the Eagles 7-6.

The Eagles trailed St. Edward's throughout game two, with their only run appearing at the bottom of the second. With two outs and one on, Gogel doubled an RBI-single to left field, allowing Harmening the score.

St. Edward's earned its final run in the fourth frame off a RBI-single to right field, eventually taking the game 3-1.

The Eagles, who are 1-1 overall, conclude tournament play Saturday taking on regional foe Northwood University at 10 a.m., followed by Young Harris College at Noon.

The Timberwolves (2-0) topped St. Joseph's College, 7-2, and Maryville University, 6-1, while the Mountain Lions fell 13-5 to Delta State University before shutting out Miles College, 4-0.
