Eagles host USI Spring Classic Friday and Saturday

USI Spring Classic Tournament Central

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team hosts the USI Spring Classic Friday and Saturday at the USI Softball Field located at the USI Broadway Sports Complex.

Originally slated to feature eight teams in a three-field, classic-style tournament Saturday and Sunday, the USI Spring Classic was moved to Friday and Saturday and to one field due to field conditions and weather concerns.

The USI Spring Classic features seven teams—four from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, two from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and one from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Representing the GLVC is USI, Missouri University of Science & Technology, Saint Joseph's College, and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Saginaw Valley State University and Tiffin University are representing the GLIAC, while Kentucky Wesleyan College represents the GMAC.

USI (3-1), which has not played since February 8, will play Saginaw Valley State Friday at 12:30 p.m., Tiffin Saturday at Noon, and Saginaw Valley State Saturday at 2 p.m.

In addition to USI's games, Saint Joseph's and Tiffin play Friday at 10:30 a.m., while Missouri S&T and Tiffin square off Friday at 2:30 p.m. Saturday's games include Saginaw Valley State versus Saint Joseph's (8 a.m.); Wisconsin-Parkside against Kentucky Wesleyan (10 a.m.); Wisconsin-Parkside versus Tiffin (4 p.m.); and Missouri S&T against Kentucky Wesleyan (6 p.m.).

Leading the Screaming Eagles into the weekend is junior catcher/infielder MacKenzi Dorsam and junior pitcher/first baseman Brooke Harmening. Dorsam is hitting .467 with a pair of doubles, one home run, and four RBIs, while Harmening is 2-1 with a 1.94 ERA and a save inside the pitcher's circle.

USI opens GLVC play March 8 when it hosts Missouri S&T in a doubleheader at the USI Softball Field.
