EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team continues its five-game season-opening homestand at 7 p.m. Thursday when it welcomes Shorter University (Ga.) to the Physical Activities Center. The Screaming Eagles reach the halfway point of the homestand at 3:15 p.m. Saturday by hosting Kentucky State University.

USI Men's Basketball vs. Shorter and Kentucky State Quick Notes:
 
Eagles open 2014-15 in positive column. The University of Southern Indiana started the 2014-15 season on a positive note with an 82-54 victory over Davis & Elkins College. The Screaming Eagles have won 29-staight season openers and 31-straight home openers.

USI puts three in double-figures. USI senior guard Gavin Schumann led the Eagles in the season-opening win over Davis & Elkins with 22 points. A pair of newcomers, senior guard TeNale Roland and junior forward George Edwards followed with 17 points and 14 points, respectively.

Shorter in 2014-15. Shorter University is 3-0 in 2014-15 with season opening wins at home over Spring Hill College, LeMoyne-Owen College, and Clark Atlanta University. The Hawks, who are members of the Gulf South Conference in men's basketball, are in their third season of NCAA Division II play. Kentucky State in 2014-15. Kentucky State University, a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference since leaving the GLVC after the 1994-95 season, opens season at Indiana University-Southeast on November 19 before visiting the Physical Activities Center. USI vs. Kentucky State. USI leads the all-time series with KSU, 17-3. The Eagles posted win number 17 over the Thorobreds last season when they won at the PAC, 92-69. Forward/center Aaron Nelson led the Eagles to the win with 31 points and 27 rebounds.
